Ready, Steady, REST

With postman installed and your site running check out the REST API with a call to the api itself. This is not just a way to check that the api is working but it will also give you information about how to use it.

For this we need to have:

  • The root of your site, for us http://blogimport.dev/
  • Then add the base of the api wp-json/
  • Finally add the namespace that is used by default wp/v2/

So we end with http://bbtutorial.dev/wp-json/wp/v2/

Put this into the request box of postman and ensure the method is set to GET. Then press the send button and you should see something like this:

Postman
Postman

You will see that you can scroll down through the request and see all the possible calls you can make to the api as it stands.

For the next step we will look at the posts endpoint which is listed immediately after the base of the scheme.
